Father’s Words

Excerpt from YOUR L!FE: Young Voices from The Write of Your Life™, Anthology (to be released Winter 2014)

Learn the good in me, not the bad
But if you so happen to learn the bad, learn from it.
Learn to stay on your toes.
Learn to take care of yourself, you don’t need a man’s help.
Learn to work hard for the things you want.
Learn to stay happy.
Learn to always get up and try again.

Hands

Excerpt from YOUR L!FE: Young Voices from The Write of Your L!fe™, Anthology (to be released Winter 2014)

These hands that are blessed with movement.
These hands that are active and playful with my son.
These hands that hold and comfort loved ones.
These hands that wipe away the tears of the little one.
These hands that my son will grow up in.
These hands that will wrap around him and hold him.

Home

Excerpt from YOUR L!FE: Young Voices from The Write of Your Life™, Anthology (to be released Winter 2014)

Home is a place I enjoy being.
Not literally where I fall asleep every night,
And wake up every morning.
Home is a place where I’m surrounded by people I love,
And who love me in return.
Home is where I can be myself,
Not feeling alone.

The Woman Bottled Up in Me

Poem from YOUR L!FE: Young Voices from The Write of Your Life™, Anthology (to be released Winter 2014) by The Write of Your Life™ Student

She is confident.
She isn’t afraid to stand tall and take eyes away from her feet.
She isn’t afraid of falling, so she doesn’t.
She’s like a flower blooming so strong and beautiful.
But she’s so deep down and out of reach I fear I won’t find her.
My desire to be this person is so great.
But my habit of wondering what everyone is thinking of me is in my way.
If I let that go then maybe I can stand tall too.
